District Governor -- Tori Houle

Hello Montana District!  I am so excited to see what the new Key Club year will bring.  First off I would like to say thank you so much for elected me to be the 2010-2011 District Governor it is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.  So I am truly honored and blessed to be the new Governor of this great organization.
A little back ground on me.  My name is Victoria Regan Houle but I go by Tori and I am currently a junior in high school.  I will turn 17 on May 25!  I am very excited about that!  I go to Columbia Falls High School I have lived there since I was in the sixth grade, and it is a wonderful little town with the greatest people you will ever meet.
This year I am so excited, and if any of you were at the District Convention, you all probably all know my goals for this year.  But I would just like to share them with everyone.  My first goal is communication.  Communication is one of the most popular goals of the District Board, but it is the goal that is most needed.  I live up in Columbia Falls, like one hour away from Canada and on the Western tip of our great state.  My farthest Lt. Governor lives in Sidney, which is a full day, drive away.  Although it is so far away we can stay communicated between everyone by emails, texting, phone calls, and of course our board meetings.  But we only meet 4-5 times a year, so the board meetings need to be well organized so we can accomplish everything that needs to be done.
My second goal for the District is participation in every club.  We need to start getting every club participating in everything they can possibly participate in.  This way people across the state start to see that even the small clubs can do just as much as the “big” clubs can.  Participation is mainly up to each club, but I know that if the District Board communicates well to each club, they will all want to participate in anything we ask them to.  Participation is key to gaining new members which is my third goal.
Increasing membership is one of the best goals to have.  Montana is a very small district but we can make it just as strong as the other huge district such as California or Tennessee.  We just need to try hard and keep members interested and involved in Key Club.  Getting new members is very exciting, but keeping those new members is even more exciting.  You can keep your new members by FOLLOWING THROUGH!  If you don’t follow through it is one of the ways you lose members, you want to make sure that everyone feels accepted and wanted in Key Club, which is one of our core values.  But, every club should be able to increase their membership each year, if they are willing to do the work for it.
The last goal I would like to share is the Governor’s Project this year.  Project Life, is slowly declining from the Key Club’s heart.  That is why I picked this to be my Governor’s Project, but I hope that you as a District will focus more on Bullying which is my actual Governor’s Project.  Bullying is one of the main causes for suicide and depression.  Bullying happens from the time you are a small child to your adult hood, there is just different kinds of bullying.  I hope that you find it somewhere in your busy club schedule to join in this great cause.
Thanks once again for elected me as your 2010-2011 District Governor!  Love you all and don’t ever be afraid to approach me or talk to me about anything!
Sincerely,
Tori R. Houle
Governor 2010-2011
